Governor Smt. Patel inaugurates National Nutrition Mission in Burhanpur

Chronicle Reporter, Bhopal Governor Smt. Anandiben Patel, while inaugurating national nutrition mission in Burhanpur today said that sensitivity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi towards women and children is expressed by innovations launched by him. She said that a remarkable change has come by the programmes launched for ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padao’, women education and health across the country. Smt. Patel said that target under Sabka Saath-Sabka Vikaas can be achieved only when the society itself will take effective initiative to derive benefits of the schemes. Governor Smt. Anandiben Patel was addressing the inaugural programme of National Nutrition Mission in Burhanpur today. The Governor said that smart phones given Aaganwari workers will facilitate speed to the functioning of Aaganwari. Smt. Patel advised to give nutritious food to girls on priority basis, not to solemnize their marriages at minor age and suggested pregnant women to undergone sonography necessarily. The governor underlined that arrangement for blood test should be made in girl hostels and schools regularly. She appreciated health facilities available in government hospitals. Women and Child Development Minister Smt. Archana Chitnis said that smart phones are being provided to all 815 Aanganwadi workers of Burhanpur. She said that the rate of malnutrition in the state has come down by 28 percent. The number of highly malnourished children has decreased from 12.6 percent to 9.2 percent. Smt. Chitnis said that 27 lakh daughters have been benefited under the Ladli Laxmi Yojana. Six lakh 50 thousand persons have been roped in to increase public participation in ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padao’ campaign. Charkhas (Spinning wheels) are being made available to women to make them financial self reliant. Governor interacted with children at Aanganwadi center at Burhanpur and distributed fruits to them. Smart phones and pink driving licenses were distributed during the programme. Artists of North Eastern State presented folk dance of Assam on the occasion.
