Sonia’s Dinner Move

Mrs.Sonia Gandhi has handed over the post of Congress President but not retired from party politics. As a leader of the Congress Parliamentary she invited 20 political parties to a dinner at her residence to form joint electoral alliance to face 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Besides her presiding over Dr.Manmohan Singh, Ghulam Nabi Azad, AK Antony and Mr.Mallikarjun Khadge from Congress the other leaders of different political parties were Sharad Pawar of Nationalist Congress Party, Mr.Omar Abdullah of National Conference of Kashmir, Tejasvi Yadav and Misa Yadav of RJD of Bihar, Samajwadi Party’s Ram Gopal Yadav, Satish Chandra Mishra of Bahujan Samaj Party, Sudeep Bhandhopadhya of Trinamool Congress, Kanimuzi of the DMK, D.Raja of CPI, Mohammad Salim of the CPM, Sharad Yadav of Hindustan Tribal Party, Hemant Soren of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, Ajit Singh of Rashtriya Lok Dal etc. attedhed the meet. During the election time such political combinations are formed. Small parties hope of getting berth in the ministry if coalition Government are formed.Presently there are two national combinations are in existence the NDA led by the ruling party Bhartiya Janata Party and Congress led UPA. But in all elections new alignments and formation come into being. After the election certain type of new alignment taking into consideration the electoral strength of each party new formations are formed. In some states the regional parties like AIADMK and DMK in Tamil Nadu, Telugu Desam in Andhra, Biju Janata Dal in Odisha, Trinamool Congress in West Bengal, Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party in Uttar Pradesh and Akali Dal in Punjab are strong and ruling parties over national parties the BJP and Congress. But these strong regional parties can new aspire to become Central Government on its alone and need National parties to go with it at the Centre. That the real strength of the two- the BJP and the Congress that regional parties can operate, only under a political umbrella at the Centre. The nation needs national parties to show national identity in the world. The regional leaders in the national interest should join national parties. Till then joint front like NDA and UPA are needed for our political working.
