Sushma speaks to father of Telangana student shot in US


New Delhi, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Sunday spoke to the father of 26-year-old student from Telangana Sharath Koppula, who was shot at a restaurant in Kansas City in the US and assured help. "Kansas incident - I have spoken to Sharath's father Ram Mohan Reddy in Hyderabad to convey our heartfelt condolences. We have offered that in case a family member wishes to go to Kansas, we will facilitate the US Visa. Else we will bring the mortal remains at the earliest," Ms Swaraj tweeted. The deceased's father Mr Reddy has sought help from External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Telangana’s NRI Minister K.T. Rama Rao to bring the body home. For her part, Ms Swaraj later tweeted that the Government of India will do a follow up on the matter and she also directed India's envoy in the United States Navtej Sarna to do the needful. India's Consulate General's office in Chicago also tweeted saying: "Deepest condolences to the family of K Sharath who was victim of a shooting in Kansas City Missouri. Consulate officials are on the way.We will provide all assistance".Sharath Koppula, a student at University of Missouri, received bullet injuries on Friday night after a man opened fire at him at a market place at Missouri in US. Koppula was later declared dead.
