Swaraj speaks to family of Koppu shot dead in US; assures all help


New Delhi, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Sunday said she spoke to Ram Mohan Reddy, father of Sharath Koppu, who was shot dead in Kansas City in the US, and assured him that Koppu’s mortals remains would be brought at the earliest. She added that the Union government would facilitate US visa if a family member wished to travel to Kansas. “Kansas incident - I have spoken to Sharath's father Shri Ram Mohan Reddy in Hyderabad to convey our heartfelt condolences. We have offered that in case a family member wishes to go to Kansas, we will facilitate the US Visa. Else we will bring the mortal remains at the earliest”, she said in a tweet. Earlier, Mr Reddy had requested the Union Minister to bring back his son’s mortal remains from the US.The 25-year-old Sharath from Warangal, Telangana was shot dead by an unidentified person at a restaurant in Kansas City in the United States on Friday evening (US time). The victim was studying in University of Missouri. He moved to the US this year to do his Master studies after working in a software firm in Hyderabad. The police released the video of a man, who is suspected to have shot Koppu, depicted in the surveillance camera inside J’s Fish and Chicken Market, where the deceased used to work part-time.
