Sweet singing, delightful Odissi dance at Tribal Museum


Chronicle Reporter, Bhopal The music and dance lovers of the city experienced an enthralling eve as they witnessed the innocence and purity of semi-classical vocal performance and Odissi dance. Here on Sunday renowned vocal singer Bhopal’s Varsha Deouskar and chorus gave a captivating semi-classical vocal performance and dancer Shishya Pushpita Mishra from Bhubaneshwar and her troupe gave a splendid performance at Madhya Pradesh State Tribal Museum under its Uttaradhikar series of cultural performances. The cultural programme was organized at Tribal Museum here on Sunday under ‘Uttaradhikar series of Tribal Museum. The classical music lovers took the pleasure of the classical singing and dancing at the programme. It is noteworthy that keeping in view the Guru Shishya Parampara, Tribal Museum is organizing a series of classical music and dance under Uttaradhikar series every Sunday. The evening began with the mesmerizing vocal performance by Varsha Deouskar. Varsha and the chorus commenced their music recital with a bandish “Sapat Sur Gave” in raga Kalyana set into Madhyalaya toopak taal, later another Bandish “Chandaji Aa Ci Gaye—- was set into drut teen tal. Guessing mood of the audience, he sang a Malvi folk song as Lago Kart After Varsha’s music, there was delighting Odissi group dance by Shishya Pushpita Mishra along with her troupe. These dancers started their presentation with Deepam Jyoti in ek taal, then Sandhya Deepam Namostute in which the dancers prayed to light.Later, they performed Trahi Durga in which they presented glimpse of Goddess Durga well. The excellent command of rhythm, as well as her natural flair for profound expression, marked their performance. Noted for their effortless pirouettes, amazing footwork and wonderful expressions, the dancers won hearts of the audience in Bhopal with their delightful performance. Facial expressions were incorporated with the musical sequences. The dance was kept simple yet innovative. The elegant costume and simple look of the performers was another reason of attraction of the show.
