Various events held as annual sports meet BSSS Dangal 2K18 begins


Chronicle Reporter, Bhopal The Annual Sports meet at BSSS, is scheduled for 8th and 9th of February. The Inaugural Ceremony was an event to be cherished where the spirit of sportsmanship was visible in the entire ambiance. The Chief Guest of the Occasion Ms. Bittu Sharma Bhatele was accorded a floral welcome by the Principal, BSSS, Dr. Fr. John PJ. At the very onset there was a March Past Parade performed by the students from various faculties accompanied by the Class Counselors. This was followed by the lighting of torch by the Chief Guest, handing it over to the President Students’ Union and the rally which continued with the passing over the torch baton to the various national level players of the college and finally the ignition of the main torch as a symbol of the spirit of sports.Dr. Fr. John PJ, in his inaugural address, stressed on the importance of sports because it has the potential to transform one’s personality. The students of BSSS have participated in various national and international sports events and brought many laurels not only for the college and the state but also for the nation. He further blessed the players and extended his best wished to the players of various games to add feathers to our cap and carve a niche at international platforms. Sports Coordinator, Mr. Vishal Singh Sengar said that sports is very essential for physical and mental growth. It relieves stress and through healthy competition, teaches to face the hurdles of life at large with a positive attitude. The Chief Guest, Ms. Bitttu Sharma Bhatele, Deputy Superintendent Police, advised the students to respect their parents at home and the teachers at College and success would be at their footsteps. The blessings and teachings have the power to create miracles. Also she motivated the students to learn from their failures and never to succumb to defeat but to keep striving with revived determination. Pertinent to mention here that the sports events had already started a month back and various events were held during this period to reach to a culmination in these last two days. The total no. of students who have participated in various events has been approx. 1342. The figure itself is a proof depicting the need and relevance of sports in Higher Education. The eye catching display of bicycle stunt was the major show of the day, performed by Abdul Rehman, a young boy from Bhopal who holds a Guinness record to his credit. There are various matches scheduled in these two days. The first was the football final between the students of BBA and B. Com Economics. In a thrilling match, BBA won the match with a score of 4-3. There were various group dance performances by the students which made the crowd tap their feet with the beat and the vitality of the weather and the youthful vigour captivated one and all.
