Visit of NFPs of ISA member countries to MP


Chronicle Reporter, Bhopal A press Conference organise by the department of New & Renewable Energy with 15 Countries delegations at secretariat. In the Press Conference Principal Secretary of NRED Manu Srivastava that International Solar Alliance (ISA) is the only treaty-based international inter-governmental organization headquartered in India. ISA is an initiative of our Hon’ble Prime Minister; it was launched during COP-21 in Paris to encourage solar energy and combat the challenges of Climate Change. The Founding Conference of ISA was recently held on March 11, 2018 at Rashtrapati Bhawan, New Delhi. The Founding Conference was hosted by the hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi and Hon’ble President of France Mr Emmanuel Macron. Over 30 heads of State/Government of ISA member countries attended the conference. In the wake of successful execution of solar energy based systems in Madhya Pradesh, ISA had proposed a two day visit of the National Focal Points (NFPs) of the ISA member countries to MP. During this visit, representatives of 15 countries visited solar farms, solar pumps and solar rooftop systems near Indore and Bhopal. The delegation comprised of NFPs from Cambodia, Equatorial Guinea, Madagascar, Malawi, South Sudan, Zimbabwe, Seychelles, Rwanda, Costa Rica, Fiji, Uganda, Burundi, Ghana and Guyana. It was accompanied by Dr Megha Pushpendra Lead- Strategic Communication and Mr. P. C. Sharma Consultant- Renewable Energy from ISA. The delegation, along with Manu Srivastava, Principal Secretary, NRED, GoMP, visited 20 kW grid connected rooftop solar system at Regional Park (PipaliyaPala) Indore, which has been installed to meet the base load of the park. The delegation also visited 5 HP AC irrigation solar pump installed at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, as also 5 HP DC solar pump installed in the farm of farmer Narendra Singh Rajput in Village Arniya ,Block Sonkatch , Dist. Dewas. The delegation showed keen interest in the functionality and maintenance parameters of the pump system and sprinklers, and that this is fully controllable via mobile app. The delegation visited Shakti Pumps (I) Ltd., Pithampur (a solar pump manufacturing facility), which has state of the art technology and exports solar pumps to many countries. The delegation visited 50 MW Solar Plant at Icchawar, Sehore. The delegation was briefed about the other projects in MP, like the commissioned 250MW Mandsaur solar plant and under-construction 750MW Rewa plant. The delegation met with Hon’ble Chief Minister in the presence of Hon’ble Minister of New & Renewable Energy Narayan Singh Kushwaha and Hon’ble Chairperson MP Urja Vikas Nigam Vijendra Singh Sisodiya. The Chief Minister stressed the commitment of Madhya Pradesh for renewable energy. He stated that Madhya Pradesh would continue to be one of the leading states of renewable energy and would fulfil the promise made by our Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi in COP21 at Paris for achieving 175GW target of renewable energy by 2022. The delegation shared that in certain countries, energy is available to the farmers at a rate around 40 US cents per unit, which is almost equivalent to Rs 30/unit. They felt that solar pumps would be game-changer for the world, and ensure prosperity to farmers and food security to nations. The delegation wanted assistance from Madhya Pradesh in setting up mega solar projects like Rewa, so as to enable them to address the power shortage in their countries at rates lower than US 5cents per unit. ISA assured that they would play an active role in taking the learnings of Madhya Pradesh and largely from India to the countries lying between Tropic of Cancer & Tropic of Capricorn, which are keen to move ahead and make the sun energise their lives and economies.
