Ward and ICU facilities begin at AIIMS Neurology Dept


Chronicle Reporter, Bhopal, Important facilities like ward and ICU facilities began at AIIMS Neurology Department at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Bhopal and inauguration was done by Director Dr. Nitin M Nagarkar. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Nagarkar said treatment of patients of cerebral stroke, paralysis and other diseases of the nervous system would begin at AIIMS would begin after inauguration of these facilities. Facilities of ventilator, multi para-monitor and other tests would be available at the AIIMS. Under Neurology Department, the epilepsy monitoring ward was also inaugurated where 20 beds would be available to admit patients. The epilepsy monitoring unit has been set up to detect epilepsy. About one-third epilepsy cases are drug resistant. To cure epilepsy, the surgery is an important option. The part of brain affected with epilepsy is removed during the surgery. The first surgery of a patient was performed at AIIMS Bhopal. Neurology ICU This unit is very important for the unconscious, muscles and nervous system patients. This will cover Monocytes, Encephalitis, Recurrent seizer, strokes and Coma patients also. After improvement in the condition the patients will be shifted from ICU to HDU and general wards. Neurology general ward Patients who are in stable condition are normally admitted in Neurology ward. After that, diagnose and treatment plan is done in this ward. This is also the 20 beds ward. Neurology OPD A general OPD for Neurological patients and another special clinic is also being operated for strokes, cerebra vascular, and epilepsy and movement disorder patients. With these new additions the total number of beds has reached to 471. It is significant that, in upcoming three months the quantity of beds in AIIMs will increase to 960. During this ceremony the Director Nitin Nagarkar said the management and staff will always try their best to provide high quality of services to the patients. The total number of beds at AIIMS Bhopal has risen to 471, and the number is proposed to be increased to 960 beds in the next three months. Director Dr. Nagarkar said AIIMS Bhopal is rapidly expanding its health services in the interest of patients. He said every possible efforts are being made to ensure that the patients are not at any disadvantage.
