Weekly aid collection campaign should be launched for servicemen


Governor Smt. Patel instructions at Sainik Kalyan Amalgamated Special Fund’s Meeting

Chronicle Reporter, Bhopal Governor Smt. Anandiben Patel said that a high level weekly campaign should be launched in the state every year on Flag Day from December 1-7 to collect funds for sainik kalyan. She was addressing at the 19th meeting of Directorate of Sainik Kalyan Amalgamated Special Fund (ASF) here today. A 20 percent hike should be given in the target to collect funds to the districts. The Governor directed to include maximum number of students of schools and colleges besides women in the campaign. Governor Smt. Patel said that the countrymen become upset on seeing the photographs of martyrs and servicemen who get injured while fighting at the borders to save the country from terrorists and Naxals. It is our duty to play an active role in collection of funds for sainik kalian. She told to collect funds from door-to-door, at squares, industrial and business establishments and government offices. She said that efforts must be made to make benefits of various state government schemes to servicemen, ex-servicemen, widows of servicemen, their dependants and children, specially students and their daughters. The Governor said that training should be imparted to the widows of servicemen so that they are able to start a respectable business. Efforts should also be made to link servicemen’s families with state government’s mass marriage scheme, Ladli Laxmi Yojana, cycle distribution to girls etc. Admissions should be made available in private schools and colleges for the children of servicemen and the school managements should be directed to bear the entire expense. Governor Smt. Patel instructed all divisional commissioners and district collectors to extend support to the construction and other works undertaken under the sainik kalyan karyakram besides making serious efforts to provide benefits of the state government schemes to their families. The Governor awarded collectors of 33 districts and four divisions of the state with mementos and citations for exceeding target of fund collection for the sainik kalyan fund. Director Sainik Kalyan Brigadier (retired) R.S. Nautiyal presented the report of the works done in 2017 and 2018 and works to be undertaken in the coming financial year. Additional Chief Secretary Home K.K. Singh, Principal Secretary to the Governor Dr. M . Mohanrao, Principal Secretary Finance Manoj Govil and district sainik kalian officers from all districts were present during the meeting.
