New Delhi, July 19 (UNI) President Droupadi Murmu on Friday honoured 31 senior military officers, including Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi and Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi with Param Vishisht Seva Medals.
President Murmu presented these medals for distinguished and meritorious service to military personnel during the second phase of the Defence Investiture Ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhawan here, an official statement said.
She also conferred Distinguished Service Decorations to 94 personnel of the Armed Forces and the Indian Coast Guard. The decorations include 31 Param Vishisht Seva Medals (PVSMs), four Uttam Yudh Seva Medals (UYSMs), two Bar to Ati Vishisht Seva Medals (AVSMs), and 57 AVSMs.
General Dwivedi and Admiral Tripathi, who were recently appointed Army Chief and Navy Chief respectively, have also been awarded the Param Vishisht Seva Medal.
On this occasion, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth and senior military officers along with other dignitaries were present.
