New Delhi, Jan 28 (UNI) Prominent leaders from Bihar including ‘Mountain Man’ Dashrath Manjhi’s son Bhagirath Manjhi, Manoj Prajapati and Ali Anwar Ansari joined the Congress party in the presence of party spokesperson Pawan Khera and Bihar Congress chief Akhilesh Prasad Singh here on Tuesday.
With the Bihar assembly election slated later this year, the joining of these prominent leaders from the state has given the Congress party a much needed boost.
Addressing a press conference at the Akbar Road office here, Pawan Khera welcomed the leaders into the party fold.
Those who joined the party include ‘Mountain Man’ Dashrath Manjhi’s son Bhagirath Manjhi; All India Prajapati Kumbhar Sangh, Bihar President Manoj Prajapati; National President of All India Pasmanda Muslim Society and former MP Ali Anwar Ansari; Dr Jagdish Prasad; BJP’s Nighat Abbass; former AAP spokesperson Nishant Anand and Frank Huzur.
Khera said that important people from various fields had joined the Congress as they were influenced by the ideology of the grand old party.
Talking to media after taking the party’s membership, Anwar Ansari said that he was already influenced by the thoughts of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi.
“When the ‘Samvidhan Raksha Sammelan’ series started, I was invited, after which we together organised this conference at many places. Rahul Gandhi’s thoughts have generated enthusiasm among Dalit, backward, tribal and minority in Bihar. We all agree with the Congress party’s views and will move forward together,” Ali Anwar Ansari said.
Meanwhile, Nighat Abbass said that she was moving ahead with the ideology of Congress thinking that “if we stay together, we will remain strong.”
Praising the party she had just joined, Abbas said the “Today the time has come to end BJP’s politics of fear and fanaticism. Today every Muslim is scared, that is why I have left BJP and joined Congress”.
Moreover, Manoj Prajapati said that that backward class of Bihar is united under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi and the Congress will perform well in the upcoming assembly election in Bihar.
Akhilesh Prasad Singh said that the joining of the eminent personalities will strengthen the Congress party and will benefit in the upcoming assembly election.
