Protest against liquor shop in Semra

  • Residents wear blindfolds, submit memorandum to Collector for 8th time

Bhopal – In a powerful display of peaceful protest, residents of the Sai Ram Colony in Semra, Bhopal, once again voiced their opposition to a liquor shop located in their neighborhood. Donning black blindfolds to symbolize the administration’s silence, the locals gathered outside the Collector’s office to demand action. This marks the eighth time they have submitted a formal memorandum to the Collector and the Excise Department through the public grievance redressal process.

According to reports, residents from the colony assembled in front of the Collector’s office, wearing black blindfolds as a symbolic act to express their frustration over the authorities’ continued inaction. Despite submitting repeated pleas and holding non-violent protests, no decisive steps have been taken to shut down the shop.

Locals have consistently argued that the liquor store’s presence in a residential area is inappropriate and disruptive to the community’s peace and safety. They emphasized that their protest has always remained peaceful, but their patience is now being tested. With this latest memorandum, they have renewed their call for the immediate removal of the shop, urging officials to finally take meaningful action.
