New Delhi, May 23 (UNI) Congress leader and former Minister in Punjab government Harminder Singh Jassi joined the BJP on Thursday.
Harminder Singh joined the BJP in the presence of Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar and other senior leaders at party headquarters in New Delhi.
Speaking to the media after joining the party, Jassi said, “I have been looking at Prime Minister Narendra Modi policies for many years now.
He developed the country and improved India’s image all over the world. I have joined the BJP today, inspired and impressed by PM Modi’s policies.”
Jassi has been an MLA from Talwandi Sabo twice and Bathinda urban seat once.
He is considered close to Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim.
After losing the assembly election in 2017, he wanted to contest from Talwandi in 2022 but the Congress denied him the ticket. Upset over this, Harminder Singh contested the election as an independent.
