Patna, Feb 5 (UNI) Stressing the need for National level caste census for providing due participation of Dalits and oppressed sections in the power structure of the country, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi expressed his doubts at the caste census held in Bihar.
While addressing the 130th birth anniversary function of freedom fighter and Dalit icon Jaglal Choudhary here on Wednesday, Gandhi compared the caste survey of Bihar with that of the caste census conducted in Telangana and asserted that the caste census of Telangana reflect the actual representation of caste.
To assess the actual caste representation, one should refer to the cast Census of Telangana and not that of Bihar, he quipped while raising fingers at the caste census conducted in Bihar.
As it is RJD Chief Lalu Prasad Yadav and his son and leader of opposition in Bihar assembly Tejaswi Yadav were tirelessly trying to get credit for the caste census held in Bihar. Congress is an alliance partner of RJD in Bihar and by pointing fingers at this, Rahul Gandhi has put RJD’s claims in the dock.
The ideologies and actions of the pioneer of Indian Constitution Baba Sahab Bheem Rao Ambedkar and the noted freedom fighter Jaglal Choudhary have roots in the pain, agony and oppression of the dalits, the leader of opposition in Lok Sabha said, alleging that the BJP and RSS were contemplating for gradual waning of the constitution.
Rahul also alleged that the BJP and RSS were against the Constitution as it guarantees the rights of Dalits and the downtrodden.
The Senior Congress leader said that the BJP speaks about dalits representation which according to him was irrelevant without their participation in power structure which was negligible in the country. All decisions were being made through remote control, he alleged saying that some representation has been given in the Ministry but they were being controlled by the OSD of the RSS.
Speaking about dalit’s participation in the budget, Gandhi said that 90 people prepare the budget of the country of whom only three were dalits. He further alleged that the participation of Dalits, tribals and backward classes is only Rs 6 out of Rs 100.
Emphasizing the need for a caste census across the country to identify the exact number of Dalits, minorities and weaker sections of society, Gandhi said it would help in framing the policies accordingly.
The former Congress President said he was waiting for the day when Dalits and weaker sections assumed leadership position in every institution of India and maintained that at present no dalit, OBC or tribal can be found in any of the corporate houses or institutions.
