Rahul has lowered dignity of LOP: Vaishnaw

New Delhi, July 1 (UNI) Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Monday accused Rahul Gandhi of having “lowered the dignity of the post of Leader of the Opposition” and alleged that during his speech on the President’s address in the Lok Sabha he only made “irresponsible statements”.

He also claimed that Gandhi had called the entire Hindu society “violent and untruthful”.

“Today, Rahul Gandhi has called the entire Hindu society violent and untruthful. He has insulted Hindu society, and this is not the first time, this is the old method of Congress,” said the Union Minister in a press conference here.

He further added that, ” In 2010, the then Home Minister P Chidambaram called Hindus terrorists… Rahul Gandhi has today lowered the dignity of the post of Leader of the Opposition.”

Launching a fierce attack on the BJP and RSS, Rahul Gandhi said, “those who identify themselves as Hindus only talk about violence, hatred and untruth. Aap Hindu ho hi nahi… (You are not Hindus).” His remarks triggered an uproar in the Lower House with the Treasury benches vociferously objecting.

Vaishnaw said, “The whole country is saddened by this statement of Rahul Gandhi, and no amount of condemnation of this statement is enough.”

Calling Gandhi ‘sstatement on Agniveer a “big lie,” the minister said, “Today, when he was giving his speech, the Defence Minister clarified in the House itself that the martyrs get a compensation of Rs 1 crore.

The Minister asked Rahul Gandhi to look into his facts and alleged that “it is not that Congress has raised questions on the Army for the first time, Congress has always raised such questions on the Army and tried to mislead the country.”
