New Delhi, May 9 (UNI) The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday predicted a wet spell accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds over Central, East and south Peninsular India till May 12.
The heatwave conditions over west Rajasthan will continue to prevail till tomorrow and abate thereafter, the IMD said.
According to IMD, “Fairly widespread to widespread light rainfall accompanied by thunderstorm, lightning and squally winds up to 50 kmph is expected over West Bengal, Sikkim Bihar, Jharkhand and Odisha till May 12 with the possibility of isolated heavy rainfall.”
“Fairly widespread to widespread light rainfall accompanied with isolated thunderstorm, lightning and winds gusting up to 40 kmph very likely over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya,
Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura for the next 7 days,” the IMD said.
Isolated heavy rainfall also very likely over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura on Friday.
The weather department also forecasts hailstorm activity over Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada for today.
Isolated heavy rainfall very likely over South Interior Karnataka on May 09th, 12th & 13th; over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal on May 9 & 12th; Rayalaseema, Telangana on 13th and Kerala & Mahe on 09th, 12th & 13th May, 2024.
The coastal areas of Gujarat will witness hot and humid weather for the next 5 days, the IMD said.
