Jaipur, Dec 3 (UNI) The main opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which is looking back to form the government in Rajasthan, is inching towards a clear majority as the party has so far won 76 seats while maintaining a lead on 39 as the counting on 199 seats out of 200 in the state assembly continues on Sunday.
As per the data of the Election Commission the ruling Congress, which won 100 seats in the 2018 assembly elections and formed the government, has so far won 43 seats and is leading on 26 seats.
Among others Bharat Adivasi Party, which made its debut, has won 2 seats and is leading on 1 seat. BSP has also won 1 seat and is leading on 1 seat. Rashtriya Loktantrik Party (RLTP) and Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) are leading in 2 and 1 seats respectively. Independents have emerged victorious in 3 seats and are leading in 4 seats.
As per the results announced by the ECI, former Chief Minister and BJP candidate Vasundhara Raje has won from Jhalrapatan seat. She defeated her nearest rival Ramlal of Congress by a margin of 53,193 votes.
While Raje secured 1,38,831 votes, a total 85,683 votes were polled in favour of Ramlal. This will be the sixth time Raje has won the assembly election.
Earlier, Bharat Adivasi Party (BHRTADVSIP) opened its account by winning Chorasi seat. Its candidate Rajkumar Roat defeated his nearest rival Sushil Katara by a margin of 69,166 votes in the Chorasi seat. While 1,11,150 votes were polled in the favour of Roat, Katara received 41,984 votes.
Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has almost won by a margin of 26,396 votes defeating his nearest rival Prof Dr Mahendra Rathore of BJP in the Sardarpura constituency after 21 rounds of counting. While Gehlot has received 96,859 votes, 70,463 votes have been counted in favour of Rathore.
On Tonk seat former deputy CM and Congress candidate Sachin Pilot has won by a margin of 29,457 votes defeating his nearest rival and BJP candidate Ajit Singh Mehta. On Jhotwara seat former Union Minister and BJP nominee Rajyavardhan Rathore has won by a comfortable margin of 50,385 votes by defeating his nearest rival Abhishek Choudhary of Congress.
Congress state president Govind Singh Dotasra is leading by a margin of 14,180 votes over his nearest rival Subhash Maharia of BJP in the Lachhmangarh seat. In Udaipur BJP’s Tarachand Jain
is leading by a margin of 32,771 over his nearest rival and Congress candidate and national spokesperson Prof Gaurav Vallabh.
