Paris, July 29 (UNI) In an heartbreaking turn of events at the Women’s 10m Air Rifle Final of the Paris Olympics, Ramita Jindal’s dreams of securing a podium finish were dashed as she concluded the competition in seventh place.
Ramita’s journey through the final was marked by both promise and adversity. Her initial performance saw her in a commendable fourth place with a score of 52.5 after her first five shots. However, as the competition intensified, she struggled to maintain her momentum.
The spotlight of the final was seized by Oceanne Muller, whose dazzling 10.8 in the shoot-off overshadowed Jindal’s 10.5, ultimately sealing Ramita’s exit from contention. Despite Ramita’s valiant efforts, her early scores, including a series of 10.2s, were not enough to elevate her standings in a field where her rivals were consistently exceptional.
Ramita’s progress had initially been promising, as she managed to surpass Norway’s Jeanette Hegg, who finished in eighth place. Yet, despite her valiant efforts and a total score of 104.0 in the second stage, Ramita was unable to secure a higher position.
A proud representative of Ladwa district in Kurukshetra and a student at Hansraj College, Delhi University, Ramita’s journey in shooting began at the tender age of 13. With the unwavering support of her father, Arvind Jindal, and her early training at the Karan Shooting Range, she has previously earned a bronze medal at the Hangzhou Asian Games.
Although this setback may feel disheartening, Ramita’s talent and dedication remain unwavering. Her bright future in the sport is a testament to her resilience and passion, promising more opportunities to shine on the international stage.
