Ramniwas Rawat takes oath as minister in MP Cabinet

Chronicle reporter, Bhopal
Ramniwas Rawat, who quit the Congress party to join the BJP, took his oath as a minister in Madhya Pradesh Cabinet. Rawat first became a minister in 1993 under the Congress government. However, he faced a setback in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections when he lost to Narendra Tomar.

Prior to the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Rawat made a strategic move by joining the BJP on April 30, 2024. Just 68 days after his departure from Congress and joining the BJP, he was appointed as Cabinet Minister.

The expansion of Dr. Mohan Yadav’s Cabinet included Rawat’s induction. Currently, the cabinet comprises 31 ministers, with three positions still vacant. The oath of office was administered by Governor Mangubhai Patel. The ceremony took place at Raj Bhavan at 9 am on Monday, July 8.

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav announced the expansion of his cabinet, integrating Rawat, who had recently switched from Congress to BJP. This expansion highlights the political maneuvering ahead of the upcoming elections, as parties strengthen their ranks with experienced leaders like Rawat.
