Nagpur, Mar 30 (UNI) Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday called for revival of District Cooperative Bank for the financial empowerment of farmers in the district.
Speaking at the appointment ceremony of the founding administrator of the Maharashtra State Cooperative Bank at the Nagpur District Central Cooperative Bank here, he said, “We see that farmers in districts where the network of District Cooperative Banks is functioning efficiently are happier. At the same time, it is evident that the agro-industry has taken a good shape in these districts.”
Thinking in this perspective, to economically strengthen the farmers of Nagpur district, the responsibility of the founding administrator of the District Cooperative Bank has been handed over to the Maharashtra State Cooperative Bank from today, he said and expressed that the path of progress of farmers will be broader.
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, Revenue and Guardian Minister Chandshekhar Bawankule, Minister of State for Cooperation Dr Pankaj Bhoyar, Minister of State for Finance and Planning, Agriculture and Relief & Rehabilitation Advocate Ashish Jaiswal among others were present.
“Considering the request made by MLA Ashish Deshmukh regarding the post of administrator, we are doing this first experiment,” Fadnavis said and hoped that the Cooperative Commissionerate will play a befitting role in this, and the District Cooperative Bank of Nagpur will be financially profitable in next one and half years.
