- Heat wave alert issued in 30 districts
Bhopal: The temperature in Madhya Pradesh is soaring, with the mercury surpassing 43°C in several regions. The Meteorological Department has issued a heat wave alert for 30 districts, including Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, and Jabalpur. Orange alerts have been issued for Ashoknagar, Guna, Ratlam, Mandsaur, and Neemuch due to the intense heatwave.
According to meteorologists, districts like Gwalior, Shyopur, Morena, Bhind, Shivpuri, Niwari, Tikamgarh, Chhatarpur, Panna, Satna, Sagar, Damoh, Jabalpur, Mandla, Seoni, Narsinghpur, Chhindwara, Pandhurna, Narmadapuram, Raisen, Vidisha, Rajgarh, Ujjain, and Agar Malwa are on yellow alert. Winds are expected to move at a speed of 16-18 km per hour during this period. Maximum temperatures are nearing 44°C across the state.
The ongoing impact of a cyclonic circulation and western disturbance is expected to bring a shift in the weather from April 11, potentially bringing light rainfall to some areas. Guna recorded the highest temperature of 43.4°C a day earlier, while Ratlam and Narmadapuram reached 43.2°C. The previous 24 hours saw dry weather across all divisions, with rising temperatures even during the night, leaving residents sweltering into the evening.
Despite no significant temperature shifts across most districts, areas like Indore, Jabalpur, and Shahdol experienced temperatures above normal, while places like Bhopal and Ujjain saw an alarming increase of up to 4.2°C above average.
