Bengaluru, Dec 22 (UNI) Former cricketer and television commentator Robin Uthappa has clarified that his association with three companies, Strawberry Lenceria Private Limited, Centaurus Lifestyle Brands Private Limited, and Berryz Fashion House, ended years ago when he resigned from their directorships, amid allegations concerning a Provident Fund case.
In a statement, Uthappa explained that he was appointed as a director in the companies in 2018-19 due to financial contributions made in the form of loans. However, he stressed that he had no executive role in their operations.
“Given my demanding schedule as a professional cricketer, TV presenter, and commentator, I neither had the time nor the expertise to participate in the day-to-day functioning of these businesses,” he said.
Uthappa expressed regret over the companiesβ inability to repay his loans, which led him to initiate legal proceedings. “These cases are currently sub judice,” he noted.
Addressing notices from the Provident Fund authorities, Uthappa’s legal team provided evidence and company-issued documentation confirming his lack of involvement. Despite this, the proceedings remain ongoing.
Reassuring the public, Uthappa stated that his legal advisors are taking necessary steps to resolve the issue. He also appealed to the media to present accurate and verified information.
Concluding his statement, Uthappa said, “I urge the media to kindly present complete facts and verify the authenticity of the information being shared.”
