Ruby sparkles on 40th Annual Sports Meet at St. Joseph’s Convent Idgah Hills

Bhopal, The 40th Ruby Sports Meet was held with great pomp and ceremony at St. Joseph’s Convent School, Idgah Hills, Bhopal, on Thursday. The theme of the program was “Echoes of Tranquility and Power”. Many dignitaries and parents graced the occasion.

The Chief Guest for this occasion was Mrs. Deepika Suri, IPS, IG (Administration), Bhopal. On her arrival, she was escorted by the NCC cadets to the VIP enclosure with the school band playing the welcome note. The NCC cadets gave the Guard of Honor to the Chief Guest.

The program began with the emergence of the precious gem, where Josita, the school mascot, appeared as Tejaswini, Deeptiman, Oorjavaan, carrying the Ruby to mark the Ruby Jubilee. The solemn ceremony of unfurling of the sports flag was done by the Chief Guest in the presence of the Principal Dr. Sr. Lilly and the Sports Officer Ravdeep Singh Malhari. The school band presented a meticulous, rhythmic and beautiful display and formation while playing lively tunes on the instruments.

The tiny tots of the KG classes presented their PT display “Divine Canopy” dressed in white and blue frilly frocks and carrying white and blue umbrellas indicating vastness and divinity.

“Realm of Hope” was the theme of the PT display performed by the students of classes I & II.

The sub-junior PT of classes III – V was based on the theme “Warriors of Humanity”. In a world filled with injustice, war and hatred, the young warriors emerged with a message of strength, vitality, courage and empowerment. The final message of the PT display was – The battle is for the brave. Whether you want to wither or be a warrior is your choice.

The PT of classes VI – VIII presented an enthusiastic brigade of young women soldiers dressed as gallant warrior, performing the indigenous martial art of self-defense called Gatka. They were all set to live up to the theme “We the People, We the Power”. They believe in “Vasudhaiva Kutubakam”.

“Pride and Power of Tomorrow” –the PT display by the senior girls of classes IX – XII overflowed with the feminine energy, expressing the pride and power of the present generation.

All these displays were interspersed by various races and relays which set the tracks of fire.

The chief guest, Mrs. Deepika Suri, while appreciating the tireless efforts of the students and teachers, said that sports is an integral part of life as it teaches the greatest values of life. She stressed on the point that parents must share with their children, their own moments of failure so that the children can learn to win humbly and loose graciously. During the programme 50 Mts, 80 Mts, 100 Mts., 4 x 100 Mts Relay and 4 x 50 Mts Relay Race conducted for respective divisions.

She gave away the prizes to the proud winners of various events and the house-wise championship shields. The over-all championship was won by the Tilak House (Blue).

The principal Dr. Sr. Lilly proposed the vote of thanks, expressing her gratitude to everyone who had been instrumental in making the event a grand success. In the solemn ceremony of Beating Retreat, the school flag was brought down and handed over to the chief guest by the sports officer Mr. Ravdeep Singh Malhari, who then handed it over to the principal Dr. Sr. Lilly. She handed it back to Mr. Ravdeep Singh Malhari to be kept in safe custody till the next sports meet.
