Moscow, Aug 3 (UNI) Russian air defences destroyed 75 Ukrainian drones over several regions overnight, the Russian Defence Ministry said in a statement.
“This night, during an attempt by the Kiev regime to carry out a terrorist attack using unmanned aerial vehicles on targets on the territory of the Russian Federation, air defence systems on duty intercepted and destroyed 36 aircraft-type UAVs over the Rostov Region, eight over the Kursk Region, nine over the Belgorod Region, 17 over the Oryol Region, two over the Ryazan Region, and one UAV each over the Voronezh Region, the Azov Sea, and the Krasnodar Territory,” it said.
One person has been injured following an attack by two UAVs on the apartment block in the Bolkhovsky district in the city of Oryol, regional governor Andrey Klychkov wrote on Telegram.
Meanwhile, another drone attack has put fuel tanks on fire in the Kamensky district of the Rostov Region, the head of the district administration, Vladimir Savin, wrote on Telegram on Saturday.
The emergency services are currently eliminating the fire, he said, adding that no victims have been reported.
Russia has been conducting its military operation in Ukraine since February 24, 2022. President Vladimir Putin has said the operation aims to “protect people subjected to genocide by the Kiev regime for eight years.” According to the president, the ultimate goal of the operation is to completely liberate Donbas and create conditions that guarantee Russia’s security.
