Russian Ombudswoman reports reunification of 48 families separated by Ukraine conflict

Moscow, Oct 14 (UNI) Russian Human Rights Commissioner Tatyana Moskalkova reported that after appeals to Ukrainian ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets, together with the Russian Foreign Ministry, 48 families separated during the special military operation had already been reunited.

“Forty-eight families have already been reunited. And each story is very difficult,” Moskalkova said in an interview with the Argumenty i Fakty newspaper, answering a question about the problems of reuniting parents with children separated by the military conflict.

The Office of the Russian Commissioner for Human Rights has received appeals regarding more than a thousand residents of the Kursk Region who were forcibly removed by the Ukrainian Armed Forces from their relatives who are trying to find them, Moskalkova said.

The Russian ombudswoman recalled that the forcible removal of civilians from their places of permanent residence was a gross violation of the Geneva Convention.

As many as 960 temporary accommodation centers for citizens have been created in 65 Russian regions, and there are currently 30,415 people in them due to shelling by the Ukrainian forces, of whom 7,670 are children, Moskalkova also said.
