New Delhi, Jan 16 (UNI) Condemning the attack on Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan at his residence in Mumbai, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Thursday slammed the BJP-led governments over worsening law and order situation across the country.
Addressing the media, AAP’s National Convener Arvind Kejriwal questioned the BJP’s capability to govern effectively, citing rising crime rates, unchecked gangster activities, and the alarming insecurity faced by citizens in various parts of the country.
Terming the attack on the actor as “extremely concerning”, the former Delhi CM said, “This raises serious questions about the state and central governments inability to control crime. It means that both governments have failed to provide security to the people.”
He pointed out that this is not the first such incident in Bombay, referring a shootout involving Salman Khan and the broad daylight murder of NCP leader Baba Siddiqui.
“Across the country, gangsters are running their operations fearlessly. It seems like there is complete protection for these criminals at the highest levels. They are doing whatever they want without any fear of being caught. It appears that they are operating with full protection and freedom,” Kejriwal alleged.
“They (BJP) are failing to secure the country’s borders, and they are also failing to provide safety in Delhi. Today, open gang wars are happening in Delhi. Streets are witnessing 20-25 rounds of firing. Every other day, traders are receiving extortion calls demanding crores of rupees, threatening to kill them if they don’t pay. Traders are not safe. Women are not safe. Children are going missing. This government is incapable of doing anything. This BJP government cannot provide good governance or safety to the country,” the AAP National Convenor claimed.
Meanwhile, senior AAP Senior leader Manish Sisodia tweeted, “The BJP government is unable to protect either the country’s borders or the capital, Delhi. The attack on Saif Ali Khan is proof of BJP’s failure in maintaining law and order! Gang wars are taking place openly on the streets of Delhi, with 25 rounds of firing happening.
Traders are getting ransom calls, and even women and children are not safe. Every day, 17 children are disappearing from Delhi. Be it Delhi or Maharashtra, is this the BJP’s double-engine government that has ruined law and order?”
