Saleem Sarang of NCP demand to arrest of Ramgiri Maharaj

Mumbai, Aug 17 (UNI) State Vice President of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP-AP) Saleem Sarang demanded here on Saturday that Hindu seer Ramgiri Maharaj be arrested for making controversial statements against prophet Muhammad and the Muslim community.

“Muslims are minorities; therefore, such Hindu leaders are easily targeting us, which is not good for our country, which is known as secularism,” said Sarang.

Talking to UNI Sarang said this is a conspiracy to defame Islam by making such statements on a public platform. The whole world knows about Prophet Muhammad, who always spread the message of peace and harmony. Islam has always taught us to love people of every religion, said Sarang, who is also a Muslim leader.

The controversial statement made by Ramgiri Mahraj has led to tension in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and Ahmednagar in Maharashtra, said Sarang.

A protest march was held in Ahmednagar city and Srirampur. Muslims took out a protest march and demanded the immediate arrest of Ramgiri Maharaj, he added.

The few Muslim leaders of Ahmednagar city have submitted a statement to the state government through the Superintendent of Police and demanded that Ramgiri Maharaj be investigated by the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS).

Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and BJP leader Girish Maharaj participated in the Ramgiri Maharaj program, which was organised in Ahmednagar yesterday.

Though Ramgiri Maharaj has taken the stand that he is firm on his statement,.

Sarang said that strict laws should be made to punish people who are indulging in disrespect for any religion while demanding the arrest of Mahraj.
