Hyderabad, Jan 23 (UNI) Arun Kumar Jain, the General Manager of South Central Railway (SCR), emphasised the crucial role of infrastructure in the development of any nation.
Addressing at the two-day Regional Conference on PM GatiShakti National Master Plan organised by the Ministry of Railways at the Indian Railways Institute of Financial Management in Moula-Ali, Hyderabad, on January 22 and 23, which marked a significant step towards realising the vision of the Prime Minister in transforming the landscape of transport connectivity and infrastructure creation in the nation, Jain stated that investing in infrastructure is a key driver for achieving socio-economic transformation within a generation.
He highlighted the importance of establishing a multi-modal transport network, reducing logistics costs, improving industry competitiveness, and boosting the country’s exports. GatiShakti, the national master plan, represents a paradigm shift in decision-making, breaking down departmental silos.
The General Manager emphasised that an efficient logistics network is a vital component for achieving global competitiveness, and GatiShakti addresses this need.
He outlined the six pillars of the GatiShakti Master Plan, focusing on comprehensiveness, prioritisation, optimisation, synchronisation, analytical capability, and dynamic visualisation.
Jain also mentioned that South Central Railway has efficiently utilised the PM GatiShakti Portal for planning and sanctioning projects, with nine projects covering a length of nearly 600 km currently processed through the portal.
During the conference, Sumita Dawra, Special Secretary of the Department of Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, delivered a presentation on PM GatiShakti and its benefits. Senior officials from the Ministry of Railways, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, and the Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways also participated.
