Los Angeles, Dec 12 (UNI) Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco are officially engaged, marking a new chapter in their love story. Gomez, 32, announced the rapturous news on Instagram on December 11 with a heartfelt caption, “forever begins now..”.
The post featured a close-up of her stunning engagement ring and a joyful photo of the couple sharing a laugh and a hug. Benny Blanco, 36, replied with a farce and “hey wait… that’s my wife.”
Gomez also posted a mirror selfie in her Instagram Stories, giving fans another glimpse of her sparkling new ring.
The couple’s relationship started long before romance bloomed. They first worked together in 2019 on the chart-topping track I Can’t Get Enough. However, it wasn’t until mid-2023 that they began dating, turning their friendship into a romantic partnership, according to a report by People.
Their relationship gained public attention when Gomez confirmed it in December 2023, commenting on a fan post, “He is my absolute everything in my heart”. Their red carpet debut at the 2024 Emmys in January further cemented their status as lovebirds.
Blanco has been open about his admiration for Gomez, sharing during a May appearance on The Howard Stern Show, “She’s everything I could ever ask for. Being with her is like living in a dream.”
In interviews, Gomez has praised their partnership for its emotional depth and mutual understanding. Speaking to Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, she said, “Without getting into too much detail, I think it’s just really important to meet someone that respects you,” she said. “And I think it’s really nice to also lean on someone who understands the world that I live in. But I’d have to say overall it’s the safest that I feel and it’s been really lovely and I’ve only grown through it, so it’s awesome.”
Blanco echoed similar sentiments in a May interview with TIME, where he revealed how he realized his love for Gomez.
Taylor Swift who has been friends with Gomez since they both dated Jonas brother back in 2008, “Yes I will be the flower girl,” commented on her Instagram carousel.
