Los Angeles, Dec 11 (UNI) Selena Gomez, the 32 year old American singer and actress, is savoring the moment as she celebrates her Golden Globe nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her role in “Emilia Perez”.
Speaking at the Academy Women’s Luncheon in Los Angeles on Tuesday, Gomez shared her gratitude and reflected on the challenges and triumphs of her journey in Hollywood.
“I’m overwhelmed, very, very honored and grateful,” Gomez told People magazine in a candid interview. “I can’t wait to see what happens.”
During her keynote speech at the event, which brought together stars like Ariana Grande, Amy Adams, and Mila Kunis, Gomez spoke about the isolating nature of the entertainment industry. “I know first hand how isolating this industry will feel at times, but moments like this and rooms like this, and talking to all these amazing women just reminds me that I’m not alone, and we aren’t alone”.
“It’s humour for me,” he was quoted as saying. “I know people say it’s a defence mechanism, however, I think it’s a great distraction from all of the noise sometimes. And just to have a laugh with your friends or do something that can bring you a little bit of light.”
The Rare Beauty founder highlighted the significance of collective support in her speech, “When we share and we stand together, we create a ripple effect that stretches far beyond our own lives. That’s why events like [this] are so important, they’re a celebration of our collective achievements, but they’re also a reminder of the work we still have to do.”
On the set of Emilia Perez, Gomez revealed how she found sisterhood with her co-stars Zoe Saldaña and Karla Sofia Gascon.
Tuesday’s luncheon celebrated the Academy Gold Fellowship for Women, the Academy’s programme to support emerging women filmmakers, with this year’s fellowships granted to Raha Amirfazli and Shadi Karamroudi.
