Mumbai, Jan 13 (UNI) The BSE Sensex continued to drop for the fourth consecutive session on Monday, slumping 1048.90 pts to close at 76,330.01 on weak global peers.
The National Stock Exchange (NSE) fell 345.55 pts at 23,085.95.
The Sensex opened at 76,629.90, down 749 pts.
During the day it tanked 1129 pts at 76,249.72, a day low, before closing at 76,330.01, tumbling down 1048.90 pts from its previous close.
The Nifty registered days high and low at 23,340.95 and 23,047.25 pts respectively.
The stocks that dragged the market further were Realty by 6.59 pc followed by Utilities by 4.38 pc and BSE services by 4.35 pc.
The Mid-cap fell by 4.57 pc and the Small-cap by 4.14 pc.
In 30 scrips, 4 advanced while 26 declined.
The losers were Zomato by 6.52 pc to Rs 227.15, Powergrid by 4.07 pc to Rs 287.60, Adani Ports by 3.79 pc to Rs 1070 and Tata Steel by 3.49 pc to Rs 122.95 .
The gainers were Axis Bank by 0.78 pc to Rs 1048.85, TCS by 0.62 pc to Rs 4291.80, IndusInd Bank by 0.41 pc to Rs 941.45 and Hind Unilever by 0.03 pc to Rs 2442.60.
Asian Market, European markets were down.
In the Asian Market, Strait Times slipped by 0.26 pc, Hang Seng by 1.01 pc, Taiwan Weighted by 2.33 pc and Kospi by 1.05 pc.
