Sensex crashes over 700 pts

Mumbai, Aug 2 (UNI) The equity market on Friday nosedived 709 pts to open at 81,158.99 on weak global cues.

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) fell 194.80 pts at 24,816.10 pts.

All the sectoral indices were in red, especially Utilities, Auto, Capital Goods and Metal were slipped more than 1 per cent in early trade.

Asian markets were hit today following Japan selloff even, weak US economy too impacted the same.

The Sensex which was on strong since last four sessions, crashed over 700 pts today.

The BSE registered intra days high and low at 81,317.90 and 81,084.77 pts respectively.

The NSE registered days high and low at 24,951.90 and 24,751.10 pts respectively.

The Mid Cap declined 0.83 pc and Small Cap by 0.57 pc.

In 30 scrips, 6 advanced while 24 declined .

The losers were Tata Motors by 3.70 pc to Rs 1102.20, Maruti Suzuki by 3.07 pc to Rs 12,939.15, JSW Steel by 2.64 pc to Rs 158.75, L& T by 1.94 pc to Rs 3703.05 and JSW Steel by 2.03 pc to Rs 915.05.

The gainers were Hind Unilever by 1.26 pc to Rs 2750.05, HDFC Bank by 1.67 pc to Rs 1651.35 and ITC by 0.58 pc to Rs 496.60.
