Mumbai, Oct 23 (UNI) The BSE Sensex remained under pressure for the third straight session on Wednesday, declining 138.74 pts to settle at 80,081.98 as selling pressure was seen in Capital Goods, Power and auto stocks.
The National Stock Exchange (NSE) fell 36.60 pts at 24,435.50.
High volatility was witnessed during the day, as the Sensex slid 299 pts at 79,921.13 in early trade. It was dropped 329 pts at 79,891.68, days low, before closing at 80,081.98, falling 138.74 pts from its previous close.
Meanwhile, it was surged 426 pts at 80,646.31, days high.
The NSE registered days high and low at 24,604 and 24,378.10 pts respectively.
The stocks that kept the market weak Power by 1.39 pc, Capital Goods by 1.17 pc, Health care by 0.85 pc and Auto by 0.71 pc.
The Mid cap rose 0.48 pc and Small cap by 0.93 pc.
In 30 scrips, 8 advanced, while 22 declined.
The losers were M & M by 3.04 pc to Rs 2796, Sun Pharma by 2.79 pc to Rs 1833.95, L& T by 1.77 pc to Rs 3448, Adani Ports by 1.72 pc to Rs 1339.85 and Powergrid by 1.69 pc to Rs 317.35.
The gainers were Bajaj Finance by 4.95 pc to Rs 7007.95, Tech Mahindra by 2.01 pc to Rs 1730.30, TCS by 1.31 pc to Rs 4068.35 and HDFC Bank by 1.23 pc to Rs 1735.10.
