Mumbai, Dec 12 (UNI) The BSE Sensex on Thursday slipped 236.18 pts to settle at 81,289.96 as selling was seen in FMCG, Energy and Oil and Gas stocks.
The National Stock Exchange (NSE) slipped 93.10 pts at 24,548.70.
The oscillation was seen during the day, as the Sensex opened on a weak note at 81,476.76, falling 50 pts. It tanked nearly 315 pts at 81,211.64, a day low, before closing at 81,289.96, sliding 236.18 pts from its previous close.
Meanwhile, it gained 154 pts at 81,680.97, a day high, rising 154 pts.
The Nifty registered days high and low at 24,675.25 pts and 24,527.95 pts respectively.
The stocks that slipped were FMCG by 1.15 pc, Energy by 1.03 pc, and Oil and Gas by 0.73 pc.
The Mid cap rose by 0.56 pc and Small-cap by 1 pc.
In 30 scrips, 12 advanced while 18 declined.
The losers were NTPC by 2.59 pc to Rs 356.10, Hind Unilever by 2.36 pc to Rs 2346, Tata Motors by 1.46 pc to Rs 787.35 and Maruti Suzuki by 1.42 pc to Rs 11123.
The gainers were Bharti Airtel by 1.56 pc to Rs 1610.70, IndusInd Bank by 1.29 pc to Rs 996.65, Tech Mahindra by 1.22 pc to Rs 1781.90 and Infosys by 0.93 pc to Rs 1987.
