Mumbai,Jan 17 (UNI) Snapping a winning streak in the last three sessions, the BSE Sensex on Friday dropped 423.49 pts to settle at 76,619.33 on profit booking by the local operators.
The National Stock Exchange (NSE) fell 108.60 pts at 23,203.20.
After a three-session rally, the BSE Sensex rose 27 pts to open at 77,069.19, rising 27 pts. It remained days high.
Later, it went down 779 pts at 76,263.29 days low, before closing at 76,619.33, sliding 424.49 pts from its previous close.
The Nifty registered days high and low at 23,292.10 and 23,100.35 pts respectively.
The stocks that fell were Technology by 2.15 pc, IT by 2.48 pc, and Bankex by 1.83 pc.
The Mid-cap rose by 0.04 pc and Small-cap by 0.01 pc.
In 30 scrips, 16 advanced while 14 declined.
The losers were Infosys by 5.67 pc to Rs 1817, Axis Bank by 4.59 pc to Rs 992.45, Kotak Bank by 2.59 pc to Rs 1758.50,Asian Paints by 1.12 pc to Rs 2258.90.
The gainers were Zomato by 2.69 pc to Rs 248.50, Reliance Industries by 2.50 pc to Rs 1300.45, Nestle India Ltd by 1.97 pc to Rs 2212.95 and Asian paints by 1.12 pc to Rs 2258.90.
