Sensex down 426.85 pts

Mumbai, Oct 30 (UNI) Snapping a winning streak of last two sessions, the BSE Sensex on Wednesday tanked 426.85 pts to close at 79,942.18 as selling was seen in Consumer Durable, Bankex and Financial Services stocks amid weak global cues.

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) fell 126 pts at 24,340.85.

The Sensex opened at 80,237.85, fell 132 pts. It was further dropped 548 pts at 79,821.97, days low before closing at 79,942.18, sliding 426.85 pts from its last close.

The Nifty registered days high and low at 24,498.20 and by 24,307.30 pts respectively.

The stocks that dragged the market were Consumer Durable by 1.04 pc, Bankex by 0.73 pc and Financial services by 0.50 pc.

The Mid cap gained 0.04 pc and Small cap by 1.54 pc.

In 30 scrips, 12 advanced, while 18 declined.

The losers Infosys by 2.01 pc to Rs 1801.75, ICICI Bank by 1.52 pc to Rs 1312.20, Kotak Bank by 1.32 pc to Rs 1736.50, M & M by 1.28 pc to Rs 2708.10 and SBI by 1.23 pc to Rs 822.40.

The gainers were Maruti Suzuki by 1.92 pc to Rs 11260.15, IndusInd Bank by 1.77 pc to Rs 1056.60, Adani Ports by 1.69 pc to Rs 1396.90 and ITC by 0.72 pc to Rs 491.45.

Asian Market was also seen weak as Strait Times slipped by 0.88 pc, Hang Seng by 1.57 pc and Taiwan Weighted by 0.47 by pc.
