Sensex down 728.69 pts

Mumbai, Mar 26 (UNI) The equity market got a brake on Wednesday after seven days rally, with BSE sensex tanked 728.69 pts to settle at 77,288.50 owing to uncertainty over US tarrif alongwith profit booking.

Even, increasing oil prices in the globe and strong Dollar too impacted the market

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) slipped 181.80 pts at 23,486.85.

The Sensex opened on a steady note at 78,021.45, rising 4 pts. During the day it was went up 150 pts at 78,167.87, days high.

Later, it was nosedived 823 pts at 77,194.22, days low, before closing at 77,288.50, tumbling down 728.69 pts from its previous close.

The Nifty registered days high at 23,736.50 and low at 23,451.70 pts.

Stocks that dragged the market were Oil and Gas by 1.52 pc followed by Realty by 1.37 pc,

Utilities by 1.32 pc and Energy by 1.29 pc.

The Mid cap fell by 0.67 pc and Small cap by 1.45 pc.

In 30 scrips, 4 advanced while 26 declined.

The losers were NTPC by 3.45 pc to Rs 354.50, Tech Mahindra by 2.97 pc to Rs 1413.80, Zomato

by 2.53 pc to Rs 204.50 and Axis Bank by 2.29 pc to Rs 1094.

The gainers were IndusInd Bank by 3.36 pc to Rs 658.70, Powergrid by 0.50 pc to Rs 292.60, Titan by 0.16 pc to Rs 3060 and M& M by 0.13 pc to Rs 2740.35.

Though, European market was down, Asian Market was seen up, as Strait Times rose 0.23 pc, Hang Seng by 0.59 pc, Kospi by 1.06 pc and Jakarta Composite by 3.66 pc.
