Sensex dropped 318.76 pts

Mumbai, Oct 16 (UNI) The BSE Sensex on Wednesday lost further by 318.76 pts to settle at 81,501.36 in a choppy trade as selling was seen in IT, Auto, Technology and Utilities stocks amid outflow if foreign investment

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) declined 86.05 pts at 24,971.30.

Sliding over 100 pts in Tuesday, the day opened on a weak note at 81,646.60, falling 174 pts. During the day it was tumbled down 462 pts at 81,358.26, days low, before closing at 81,501.36, down 318.76 pts from its last close.

The NSE registered days high and low at 25,093.40 and 24,908.45 pts respectively.

The stocks that kept the market under pressure were IT by 1.17 pc, Auto by 0.97 pc, Technology by 0.76 pc and Utilities by 0.40 pc.

The Mid cap fell 0.10 pc while Small cap rose 0.31 pc.

In 30 scrips, 5 advanced, while 25 declined.

The losers were M & M by 2.76 pc to Rs 3069, Infosys by 2.05 pc to Rs 1918.95, Kotak Bank by 1.39 pc to Rs 1870 and JSW Steel by 1.28 pc to Rs 987.85.

The gainers were HDFC Bank by 0.93 pc to Rs 1700, Bharti Airtel by 0.81 pc to Rs 1731.85, Reliance Industries by 0.80 pc to Rs 2709.50 and Asian Paints by 0.21 pc to Rs 3077.

Asian Market remained negative as Hang Seng fell by 0.16 pc, Strait Times by 0.14 pc and Taiwan Weighted by 1.22 pc.
