Mumbai, Mar 10 (UNI) The BSE Sensex on Monday dropped 217.41 pts at 74,115.17 on growing concerns about US economic growth impacted investor sentiment while China’s inflation turned negative for the first time in a year.
The National Stock Exchange (NSE) fell 92.20 pts at 22,460.30.
High volatility was witnessed during the day, as the Sensex opened in green at 74474.98, up 142 pts. During the day, it spurted 409.25 pts at 74,741.25, days high. Later, it tanked nearby 310 pts, days low at 74,022.24, before closing at 74,115.17, sliding 217.41 pts from its previous close.
The Nifty registered a day high at 22,676.75 and low at 22,429.05 pts.
The stocks that slipped were Industrials by 2.36 pc, Oil and Gas by 2.18 pc, Capital Goods by 2.06 pc and Consumer Durable by 2.04 pc
The Mid-cap fell by 1.46 pc while the Small-cap by 2.11 pc.
In 30 scrips, 7 advanced while 23 declined.
The losers were IndusInd Bank by 3.84 pc to Rs 900.85, Zomato by 2.33 pc to Rs 211.75, and Titan by 1.76 pc to Rs 3028.90.
The gainers were Powergrid by 2.85 pc to Rs 270.70, Hind Unilever by 1.97 pc to Rs 2247.25, Infosys by 0.85 pc to Rs 2252 and ITC by 0.30 pc to Rs 405.
Asian Market was seen weak as Strait Times slipped by 0.40 pc, Hang Seng by 1.88 pc and Taiwan Weighted by 0.52 pc.
