Mumbai, June 25 (UNI) The equity market was on top on Tuesday, with BSE Sensex spurted 712.44 pts breaching 78K level at 78053.52 first time in the history on strong global cues.
The National Stock Exchange (NSE) rose 183.45 pts to 23,721.30.
The sensex opened on a positive note at 77529.19, rising 188 pts.
It was rallied 823 pts at 78164, days high, before closing at 78,053.52, surging 712.44 pts from its previous close.
Stocks that gave Phillip to the market were Bankex by 1.87 pc, Financial services by 1.45 and IT by 0.53 pc.
The NSE registered days high and low at 23,754.15 and 23,562.05 pts respectively.
In 30 scrips, 16 advanced while 14 declined.
The Mid cap fell 0.26 pc and Small cap by 0.03 pc.
The gainers were Axis Bank by 3.66 pc to Rs 1273, ICICI Bank by 2.91 pc to Rs 1204, HDFC Bank by 2.16 pc to Rs 1708.25 and Tech Mahindra by 1.80 pc to Rs 1426.
The losers were Powergrid by 1.88 pc to Rs 326.80, Asian Paints by 1.16 pc to Rs 2862.35 and Tata Steel by 1.10 pc to Rs 175.95.
The Asian Market was strong as Strait Times was up by 0.36 pc, Hang Seng by 0.25 pc and Taiwan Weighted by 0.27 pc.
