Mumbai, July 3 (UNI) Erasing losses, the BSE Sensex on Wednesday spurted 545.35 pts to close a historic high at 79,986.89 following gains in Bankex, Financial Services, and Industrials stocks.
The National Stock Exchange (NSE) jumped 162.65 points to 24,286.50.
With yesterday’s loss of 34 points, the BSE sensex opened on a strong note at 80,0913.77, surging to a 572 point historic high. During the day, it rallied 633 points at 80,074.30, days high, before closing at 79,986.89, up 545.35 points from its last close.
Stocks like Bankex went up by 1.75 percent, financial services by 1.55 percent, and industrials by 1.09 percent.
The NSE registered days high and low at 24,309.15 and 23,207.10 pts, respectively.
In 30 scrips, 24 advanced while 6 declined.
The mid cap moved up 0.86 pc and the small cap by 0.86 pc.
The gainers were Adani Ports by 2.49 pc to Rs 1510.75, Kotak Bank by 2.37 pc to Rs 1811.60, HDFC Bank Ltd by 1768.35, and Axis Bank by 2.07 pc to Rs 1279.75.
The losers were TCS by 1.27 pc to Rs 3964.85, Titan by 1.14 pc to Rs 3360.90, Reliance Industries by 0.86 pc to Rs 3105.30, and Tata Motors by 0.54 pc to Rs 975.55.
The Asian market was seen as strong, as Strait Times was up 1.39 pc, Hang Seng was up 1.16 pc, and Taiwan Weighted was up 1.26 pc.
