Mumbai, Nov 14 (UNI) Extending losses for the sixth consecutive session on Thursday, the BSE Sensex dropped 110.64 pts to settle at 77,580.31 as selling was seen in FMCG Utilities and Power stocks.
The National Stock Exchange (NSE) fell 26.35 pts at 23,532.70.
The Nifty registered days high and low at 23,675.90 and 23,484.15 pts respectively.
Though, the equity market remained volatile, but ended in red only. The Sensex declined 54 pts to open at 77,636.94 pts. During the day it tumbled down 236 pts at 77,424.81 days low, before closing at 77,580.31, sliding 110.64 pts from its previous close.
Meanwhile, it jumped 365 pts at 78,055.52, a days high.
The stocks that were slid were FMCG by 1.35 pc, Utilities by 0.88 pc, Oil and Gas by 0.48 pc, and Power by 0.37 pc.
The Mid-cap rose by 0.41 pc while the Small cap by 0.83 pc.
In 30 scrips, 13 advanced, while 17 declined.
The losers were Hind Unilever by 2.87 pc to Rs 2394, Nestle India Ltd by 2.12 pc to Rs 2188.35, NTPC by 1.93 pc to Rs 373.50, Adani Ports by 1.82 pc to Rs 1265 and Powergrid by 1.79 pc to Rs 312.50.
The gainers were Kotak Bank by 1.29 pc to Rs 1710, Reliance Industries by 1.22 pc to Rs 1267.55, Tech Mahindra by 0.78 pc to Rs 1689.10 and M& M by 0.73 pc to Rs 2818.65.
