Mumbai, Feb 17 (UNI) Snapping a losing streak of the last eight sessions, the BSE Sensex ended positive at 75,996.86, rising 57.65 pts on the strength of Health Care, Utilities, and Consumer Durable stocks.
The National Stock Exchange (NSE) gained 30.25 pts at 22,959.50.
The Sensex opened in red at 75,641.49, declining 270 pts. It dropped nearly 645 pts at 75,294.76, a day low.
In late trade, it recovered 102 pts at 76,041.62, a days high, before closing at 75,996.86, up 57.65 pts from its previous close.
The Nifty registered days high and low at 22,974.20 and 22,725.45 pts respectively.
The stocks that lifted the market were Health Care by 1.14 pc, Utilities by 0.79 pc, Consumer Durable by 0.90 pc, and BSE services by 0.82 pc.
The Mid-cap rose by 0.51 pc while Small cap fell by 0.56 pc.
In 30 scrips, 20 advances while 10 declined.
The gainers were Bajaj Finserv by 2.83 pc to Rs 1892.55, IndusInd Bank by 2.31 pc to Rs 1047.90, Power by 2.25 pc to Rs 263.15, Adani Ports by 1.83 pc to Rs 1082.40 and Ultracemco by 1.81 pc to Rs 11461.35.
The losers were M& M by 3.75 pc to Rs 2830.35, Bharti Airtel by 2.42 pc to Rs 1675.55, TCS by 0.75 pc to Rs 3903.40 and Infosys by 0.74 pc to Rs 1842.60.
