Mumbai, Mar 14 (UNI) The BSE Sensex on Thursday smartly recovered 335.39 pts to close at 73097.28 following gains in Telecommunications, Oil and Gas’ Utilities and Power stocks.
The National Stock Exchange (NSE) rose 148.95 pts at 22146.65.
The NSE registered days high and low at 22,204.60 and 21,917.50 pts respectively.
Slumping over 900 pts on Wednesday, the Sensex opened on negative note at 72570.10, fell 191 pts. It was lost future by 264 pts, days low at 72497.19.
Later, it erased earlier losses and jumped nearly 603 pts at 73364.30′ days high before closing at 73097.28 from its previous close.
The stocks that lifted the market were Telecommunications by 3.81 pc, Oil and Gas by 3.11 pc, Utilities by 3.38 pc and Power by 2.93 pc.
The Mid cap advanced by 2.28 pc and Small Cap by 3.11 pc.
In 30 scrips, 19 advanced, while 12 declined.
The gainers were HCL Technology by 2.96 pc to Rs 1679.65, Wipro by 2.63 pc to Rs 517.60, Infosys by 2.53 pc to Rs 1652.45 and Bharti Airtel by 2.37 pc to Rs 1196.90.
The losers were Axis Bank by 1.68 pc to Rs 1061.55, IndusInd Bank by 1.33 pc to Rs 1480, Bajaj Finance by 1.05 pc to Rs 6387.20 and JSW Steel by 0.76 pc to Rs 786.
