Mumbai, Jan 15 (UNI) The BSE Sensex on Wednesday rose further by 224.45 pts to close high at 76,724.08 on the renewed buying in Power, Realty and Utilities sticks.
The National Stock Exchange (NSE) gained 37.15 pts at 23,213.20.
The Sensex opened on a strong note at 76,900.14, advancing 401 pts. It was registered days high at 76,991.05, surging 492 pts, before closing at 76,724.08, spurting 224.45 pts from its previous close.
The Nifty registered days high and low at 23,293.65 and 23,146.45 pts respectively.
The stocks that supported the market were Utilities by 2.45 pc, Power by 1.75 pc, Realty by 1.58 pc and BSE services by 0.98 pc.
The Mid cap moved up 0.11 pc and Small cap by 0.34 pc.
In 30 scrips, 18 advanced while 12 declined.
The gainers were Zomato by 5.13 pc to Rs 245.80, NTPC by 3.91 pc to Rs 323, Powergrid by 3.03 pc to Rs 298.80 and Kotak Bank by 2.24 pc to Rs 1788.40.
The losers were M& M by 2.86 pc to Rs 2961.55, Axis Bank by 2.28 pc to Rs 1025.90, Bajaj Finserv by 2.27 pc to Rs 1673.45 and Bajaj Finance by 2.24bpc to Rs 7170.05.
