Sensex up 597.67 points

Mumbai, Dec 3 (UNI) Extending rally for the third straight session on Tuesday, the BSE Sensex spurted 597.67 points at 80,845.75 on strong global cues.

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) rose 181.10 points at 24,457.15.

The Sensex opened high at 80,529.20, rising 281 points. During the day it zoomed 701 points to 80,949.10, the day’s high, before closing at 80,845.75, advancing 597.67 pts from its previous close.

Meanwhile, it fell 4 points at 80,244.78, days low.

The Nifty registered days high and low at 24,481.36 points and by 24,280 pts, respectively.

The stocks that were seen as firm were BSE services by 2.13 pc, Industrials by 1.36 pc, Utilities by 1.41 pc, and Capital Goods by 1.23 pc.

The mid cap rose 0.92 pc and Small cap by 1.03 pc.

In 30 scripts, 25 advanced while 5 declined.

The gainers were Adani Ports by 5.92 pc to Rs 1287.55, NTPC by 2.60 pc to Rs 367.50, Axis Bank by 2.18 pc to Rs 1161.50, SBI by 1.99 pc to Rs 852.85 and L& T by 1.82 pc to Rs 3772.10.

The losers were Bharti Airtel by 1.37 pc to Rs 1620.55, ITC by 1 pc to Rs 472.40, Sun Pharma by 0.39 pc to Rs 1801.20 and Asian paints by 0.37 pc to Rs 2470.
