Mumbai, Jan 24 (UNI) The BSE Sensex continued to climb on Friday too, advancing 282 pts to 76,802.73 in the opening session as buying was seen in metal, oil and gas, and power stocks.
The National Stock Exchange (NSE) moved up 87 pts at 23,292.05.
The equity market remained strong as the Sensex registered intraday highs and lows at 76,802.73 and 76,454.18 pts respectively.
The Nifty registered days high and low at 23,292.05 and 23,177.80 pts, respectively.
The mid cap fell 0.20 pc and the small cap by 0.36 pc.
In 30 scrips, 17 advanced while 13 declined.
The gainers were Powergrid by 2.07 pc to Rs 300.40, NTPC by 1.16 pc to Rs 327.40, Tata Steel by 0.84 pc to Rs 131.60 and Axis Bank by 0.64 pc to Rs 957.70.
The losers were Zomato by 1.44 pc to Rs 218.70, Sun Pharma by 1.36 pc to Rs 1809.15, Tata Motors by 1 pc to Rs 745.05 and M& M by 0.74 pc to Rs 2864.
