Mumbai, Feb 4 (UNI) The BSE Sensex on Tuesday jumped 1397.07 pts to close high at 78,583.81 on positive global cues, as the US paused its tariff on Canada and Mexico.
The National Stock Exchange (NSE) gained 378.20 pts at 23,739.25.
Tumbling down over 300 pts in the previous session, the Sensex opened on a strong note at 77,687.60, surging 501 pts. During the day, it spurted 1472 pts at 78,658, a days high, before closing at 78,583.81, up 1397.07 pts from its previous close.
The Nifty registered days high and low at 23,762.75 and 23,423.15 pts respectively.
The stocks that lifted the market were Industrials by 2.59 pc, Energy by 2.50 pc, Oil and Gas by 2.40 pc and Power by 2.31 pc.
The Mid-cap moved up by 1.35 pc and Small-cap by 1.20 pc.
In 31 scrips, 25 advanced while 6 declined.
The gainers were L& T by 4.28 pc to Rs 3428, IndusInd Bank by 3.78 pc to Rs 1051, Adani Ports by 3.71 pc to Rs 1124.90, Tata Motors by 3.26 pc to Rs 709.85 and Reliance Industries by 3.04 pc to Rs 1283.05.
The losers were ITC Hotel by 4.54 pc to Rs 164, Zomato by 2.06 pc to Rs 233.35, Nestle India Ltd by 0.81 pc to Rs 2298.20, and Hind Unilever by 0.30 pc to Rs 2434.
