For breach of model code of conduct
Bhopal: As the Madhya Pradesh elections-2023 approach, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) faces a setback in the Sagar Assembly constituency. An FIR has been filed against Shailendra Jain, a three-time MLA and BJP candidate, for violating the election code of conduct.
This development is causing concern just ahead of the voting day. The Election Commission received information about an unauthorized event at Sahu Dharamshala in Sagar, where Shailendra Jain was present.
Utensils were being distributed to women
The event involved the distribution of utensils to women and the provision of meals for attendees. Subsequently, an FIR has been lodged against him at the Moti Nagar police station for the breach of the code of conduct.
Additional SP Lokesh Sinha reported that the FST and VST teams responded to the information and conducted videography of the event.
Shailendra Jain has dismissed the allegations, labeling it as a conspiracy by members of the Congress party. He stated that he had been invited to the event during his Maha Jan Sampark and was unaware of the details of what transpired there.
Cong has no issue left: Jain
According to Jain, the Congress party resorting to such tactics prove they have no other issue left. Shailendra Jain expressed confidence in the support of the people of Sagar and noted that the truth would become apparent on December 3.
The incident resulted in a code of conduct violation case being registered at the Moti Nagar police station, based on the report submitted by the Election Commission team. The complaint mentions the presence of the MLA at the event and the distribution of utensils and food.
