Bhopal: Employees of the Sewage Department staged a protest in front of the Zone 12 office of the Bhopal Municipal Corporation after allegations of verbal abuse by a senior official. The drivers accused the AE (Assistant Engineer) of Zone 12 of using offensive language and insults during an interaction. In response, all vehicle drivers gathered at the office near Mata Mandir to voice their objections. They filed a complaint but, frustrated by the lack of action, warned of a potential strike starting on Tuesday, April 8, if their grievances were not addressed.
The incident that triggered the protest occurred on Monday afternoon when Sonu, an employee of the Sewage Department, was allegedly treated disrespectfully by the AE. The incident left the workers outraged, leading them to take to the streets. Irfan Altaf, President of the Madhya Pradesh Government Vehicle Drivers and Mechanical Workers Union, stated that all drivers would gather the next morning and refrain from operating any vehicles in protest.
